God Stories
Community Blitz
TVC Community Blitz
I have been going
to TVC for 9 months now, and God has been working in my life thru the
music, the counseling, and the sermons shared at TVC. When I heard about
this community blitz thing, I thought this would be a great opportunity
to serve God, and get to know some of the people here at TVC that you
don’t see in the spotlight week to week. The opportunity to meet some
people definitely presented it’s self. The crew was a fantastic bunch of
people, who all worked diligently to build a wheelchair access ramp. Now
I am terrible with names but I want to share my thoughts about some of
these people. The first person I got to meet was a young man from Rose
Construction; I was deeply impressed with his skills and his dedication
to the project. This is a guy that does this type of work day in and day
out. He could have been on a job where he got paid, or just enjoyed the
day off. Instead he was working and proved to be a real asset to the
project. There was a lady there with red hair. Drenched red hair!!! I
never heard her complain. In fact she worked just as hard as any of the
men. Another gentleman brought his miter saw and bench combo. Another
great guy, he taught me how to use his saw, and how to trim a board so
it would fit around a post. I was again impressed with his commitment to
the project. All and all every one worked hard. It rained and it started
out a bit cold, but it did not really matter. Every one stayed committed
and focused on the project. It was late in the day before we got it done
and I do believe every one was tired.
But this was the
best part of the whole day. There was an older man sitting just inside
the back door of the house, watching us all day. I did not know this
man, and I did not realize that he was the very reason we was building
this ramp. He waited patiently all day and when we finished he came out
on his Rascal Scooter and tested the ramp out. We all got a chance to
meet this man. I could not help but wonder how long had this man been in
this condition. How was he able to get around before with out this ramp,
or was he confined to the house do to his limited ability’s. I wondered
how liberating it must have felt for this man to be able to take his
scooter out the back door and down his ramp on his own. He can now go to
the store on his own if he needs to. I took a picture as Chris talked
with this man and you can see the joy in this mans face. I am so glad I
took the chance that God gave me to take part in TVC’s community blitz.
The gift I received from God at the end of the day was
priceless…
Thank You
Larry
